Important Information Regarding Worship this Sunday, Oct 1

Worship for World Communion Sunday, this Sunday, October 1, will be at 10:00 am AT TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH

Trinity Lutheran is across the street from Tipton UMC church. Sunday School is still 8:45-9:45 in our church building – then we will go across the street for Worship and Communion, with fellowship coffee following, also at Trinity Lutheran Church.

A few logistics, if you are wondering: Tipton UMC will provide two people to help serve communion, our Chancel Choir will sing during offering, and we will provide paper for bulletins as well as part of the treats, cups and napkins for Fellowship Coffee. All cash offerings will go to Trinity ELCA with our appreciation for them hosting our congregation. Any checks written to Tipton UMC can be put in Trinity’s offering plate and will be separated and received by our financial secretary. Reminder that you can pay online if that is easier for you.

Pastor Beth Wartick, at Trinity, and I are very excited for this opportunity to celebrate our unity in Christ. Galatians 3:26-28 reads, “for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.”

I look forward to worship on Sunday with many Tipton UMC and Trinity ELCA friends, my sisters and brothers in Christ. See you then!

Register for VBS 2016

VBS Cave Quest

Register online now for VBS 2016. Join us July 25 to 27th for Tipton Community VBS, each night from 6-8 pm. Meal served from 5 to 5:45 each night. First night free, other nights are $3/person or $10/family for the meal. VBS registration fee is $5/child. We at Tipton UMC are looking forward to hosting this year, which mean around 175 children plus many adults and youth volunteers will have our church filled and full of fun! So please if you are able, we would love volunteers, you are the ones who keep this event safe and fun for everyone. For complete information, look up our Facebook Group or our Tipton VBS website.

There are many areas for helping children have a great experience: decorating, cleaning before and after…the list goes on and on of things we need help with to make this great! Again this year a t-shirt will be provided to volunteers to wear during VBS, and also a staffed nursery for volunteers with younger children. There will be a link posted soon of items that are needed for VBS.  Getting these donations is what makes this an affordable event for families. So thank you for your help in the past and we expect the same this year!

Signup can be done with the form in your newsletter, or online! If you register online, please mail in or drop off your check at the church office. VBS will be the same stations as in the past, and will be a fun theme of exploring caves!

Please contact Bobbie Lieser or Jen Johnson with any questions.

Missions Work Team: “Porta” Potty Fundraiser

Missions Work Team: “Porta” Potty Fundraiser

The Missions work team is doing a “porta-potty or traveling toilet” fundraiser. We’re decorating/painting a toilet, then placing it in yards around town. You can join in the fun by requesting to have the potty placed in someone’s yard for up to 24 hours. You can also purchase “potty insurance” if you want to avoid having the toilet placed in your yard OR if you didn’t buy the insurance in time,
have the toilet removed from your yard.

To participate, simply complete and return the “Porta-Potty” order form with your donation to the church office. The forms will be available in the Fellowship Room. The fundraiser will start on Sunday, June 29th and end on August 3rd.

The intent is to raise awareness about Missions (i.e. helping others) and having some fun along the way. This year, a group of 16 will be working July 14-18 on projects around Tipton. Stay tuned to the web site and facebook for Team Updates during the week.
